After selling my practice and moving my family across country, I knew that I wanted to create a start-up dental practice in my new home town. I
had researched Dr. Leune’s success on Dental Town and learned about the Breakaway Practice Seminars. I attended Breakaway in late January 2013.
At that seminar Dr. Leune presented the Breakaway Affiliate Program to the seminar participants. I knew that this was something that could
really jumpstart my new practice and it would allow me to easily incorporate all the incredible systems and techniques that Dr. Leune presents
at the Breakaway Seminar. I contacted Dr. Leune that following week and we started immediately on the incredible process of creating a Breakaway
Breakaway provided an incredibly detailed demographic study of my area that proved to be invaluable for me to locate the best locations that could
provide the kind of growth that Breakaway can bring. I choose to locate my office in an existing new retail center anchored by a busy grocery
store in view of a lot of car and foot traffic. Dr. Leune proved to be an incredible asset when he helped to negotiate a $33/SF TI allowance
on a 2400SF office and 6 months additional free rent from the landlord, saving me over $104,000.
Over the next couple of months I was able to build the most exciting and esthetic Breakaway style practice. The Breakaway Construction Supervisor
proved to be invaluable in communicating and overseeing the construction to create a dental office that is highly functional and looks stunning
to the patients. The Breakaway IT Department was top notch in providing a state of the art computer and entertainment system. My patients can’t
stop raving about the big screen TVs on the ceilings, and my staff has a great time with the music system.
We opened the practice in October 2013 with 3 employees; 1 office manager, 1 dental assistant and 1 hygienist. We have 4 of the 6 total ops equipped.
The marketing company and Breakaway came through with an awesome grand opening mail campaign that allowed us to hit the ground running on opening
day and continues to draw in new patients. We started with opening 3 days a week; Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 8am to 7PM. I wanted to
offer extended hours for my patients because we are perfectly located next to 3 brand new schools; elementary, middle and a high school. Dr.
Leune’s Breakaway Support Services Center proved to be a valuable asset in our practice’s growth. They were able to answer phones Monday through
Friday, 12 hours a day even when our practice was closed. These are calls we could have missed and lost potential new patients. We had 83 new
patients our first month open.
Our Second month we added another day to our weekly schedule and an additional dental assistant. With an additional dental assistant we are able
to change to assisted hygiene and accommodate more new patients on the schedule. We will have over 100 new patients for our second month of
being open. We are currently working on the next huge direct mail campaign, finalizing our attractive and informative website, and rolling
out our office’s version of the Dental Savers Plan that the private pay patients love.
Dr. Scott Leune and the Breakaway team are tremendous resource in provided proven systems and approaches that allowed me to achieve a low stress
and very successful start-up Breakaway practice that “wows” the patients and provides an efficient and fun place to work for my staff. Being
